Hope's Toll

Forsaken in my circumstance
Left idle on the floor
Jumped to another second chance
That ended like before

But my God is faithful
His love steadfast
My trust outweighs the hurt
And Hope will last

Doubt dares to distort my vision
Fear yearns to tear my strength
Hold the noose of indecision
Like a snake at arm’s length

But my God is faithful
His love steadfast
My trust outweighs the hurt
And Hope will last

Let go of my understanding
Patient heart on Your throne
My desires cease demanding
Loyalty I have sown

How my God is faithful
His love steadfast
My trust outweighs the hurt
And Hope will last

Peace seeps into tight constriction
Joy sings a freedom song
Christ bestows a benediction
Embracing all my wrong

My faith saves my steps
God’s love heals the soul
Trust outweighs my hurt
And Hope takes her toll

What Can I Say

What can I say about a God who loves me?

How can I prove His sweetness for me?

Which words would do Him justice?

I’m scared to even try.

I know I’ll fall short.

But He meets my shabby effort with the mighty force of His glory.

I reach out my insignificant hand, and He grabs it with His majesty.

He pulls me into His constant joy, and I dance! – I dance! – I dance!

I’m surrounded by physical prison; my flesh locks me into ordinary.

But with God I run in a ray of beauty and lie down in a bed of peace.

My love is multiplied in my emptiness and I find safety in my fear.

God lifts high my brokenness and His light shines through my life.

I know I’ll fall short.

I’m scared to even try.

Which words would do Him justice?

How can I prove His sweetness for me?

What can I say about a God who loves me?

*Author's note: I was doing my God-time, and God told me to write Him a poem. I didn't know what I was going to write, except to share how much I am loved by my Creator. When I was finished writing, I centered the poem and a cross appeared. Isn't God so wonderful? He reminds me all the time that I am loved. When I am obedient to His urging, He leads me right into His arms.

The Still Great Egret

http://www.waterlilies.org/photolog/corpus-christi/

I saw a Great Egret standing on
a post this dismal day.
~
His white feathers shown bright
against the grey and gloomy bay.
~
The wind circled around the post
taunting the Egret to sway.
~
But the Egret stood silent and
still, moving neither way.
~
The rain poked the quiet Egret,
but not a feather did stray.
~
I wondered why in a fierce squall,
the poor Egret would stay.
~
God whispered, "Stand strong the storm,
and my Glory I will display."
~
The sun squelched that vexing gale,
and the Egret soared away.

Severed Twin

Severed Twin

Snip of the cord, life
Floods your lungs. I
follow then minutes
Later. The Cord thick,
Strong grows from my
Chest, wraps like a
vine around your neck.
The knife remains clean
On the cold, sterile table.

The vine swells in me,
spreads and sprouts.
Circles your body, pushing
Limbs to match mine.
Moves you to my melody.

You rise in the chair;
Face smothered by over-
lapping layers. Only
My smile appears in
The tunnel of mirrors.
My cord falls tangled
With your auburn hair.
The scissors linger, bloody
On the cramped vanity.
